Head Coach – Women's Football 1st Team (6hrs p/w)

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· To manage BCU Women's Football in conjunction with BCU Sport.

· To oversee the planning, preparation and delivery of the BCU Women's Football, (including a complete training and games programme).

· To coach BCU Women's Football 1st Team for all match days.

REPORTS TO:

BCU Sports Development Officer

MAIN DUTIES:

The post-holder will be expected to:

1. Coach/Manage the BCU Women's Football main squad and accompany them to their matches under the direction of and reporting to the Sports Development Officer (BCU)

2. Develop and progress BCU Women's Football club and create a BCU Playing Philosophy.

3. Supervise all players and coaches during training sessions & games.

4. Assist with recruitment of new players on an annual basis (numbers to be agreed annually by BCU Sport)

5. Prepare equipment for all sessions and matches.

6. Maintain training and match records that include registers and session plans.

7. To work with current partners for the development of the football programme at BCU.

8. Plan and carry out pre-season and post season activities.

9. In conjunction with BCU Sport develop an Inter-Mural Football/Recreational programme.

10. Attend relevant team and departmental meetings.

General

1. Co-operate in any staff development activities required to effectively carry out the duties of the post and to participate in BCU Sport reviews and development schemes in conjunction with BCU.

2. Compliance with all BCU policies and procedures.

3. Comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements.

4. To promote a positive image of BCU at all times.

5. Any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, which may be required from time to time including evening and weekend work.

Essential for the Role:

* Candidate must be available for both training and matchday fixtures on Wednesday afternoons.

* Must hold FA Level 2 qualification as minimum requirement and have a valid DBS and Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF)

Experience & Knowledge

Experience of contributing to player engagement and development plans (E)

Experience of managing teams of players aged 18 + (E)

Experience of coaching a diverse player group within a relevant environment (E)

Experience of liaising with variety of external agencies and local/national governing bodies e.g. the Football Association, BUCS (E)

Relevant up to date subject knowledge. (E)

Experience of working within the HE Sector. (D)

Skills & Competencies

A sound understanding of current coaching techniques relevant to university football. (E)

Ability to develop a periodised plan for the BCU Women's Football Team (E)

Ability to motivate, inspire and lead a team and promote competition within the player group. (E)

An ability to relate to, and empathise with, players of all ages and backgrounds. (E)

Ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals including players, staff and external organisations. (E)

Excellent front line customer service skills – patience, tact, sensitivity. (E)

Be able to deal with people in a calm and courteous manner. (E)

An ability to review game situations and provide feedback to the players and other coaching staff. (E)
