Provan Hall, one of Glasgow's oldest houses and now a visitor attraction, is seeking an evaluation consultant to report on a 2-year National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported engagement project.
Provan Hall Community Management Trust is looking to appoint a consultant experienced in evaluating externally funded access and engagement projects in the heritage sector to produce an end-of-project report on a 2-year National Lottery Heritage Fund project at Provan Hall in Glasgow. The consultant will work with the team at Provan Hall Community Management Trust to engage trustees, volunteers, staff and community representatives, as well as analysing evaluation materials gathered throughout the project, to assess what has been delivered in line with the aims and anticipated outcomes as set our by the National Lottery Heritage Fund in the original grant.
Provan Hall is one of Glasgow’s oldest houses, with a history stretching back over 500 years. Located in the Easterhouse area of the city, it is the only heritage site in the vicinity, and the community trust that runs it is committed to not only welcoming visitors from further afield, but also ensuring that the building is an asset that is understood, valued and used by the local community.
When evaluating the 2-year engagement project generously supported by the Heritage Fund, the consultant will review the number and range of participants, projects and programmes undertaken, summarise the work undertaken, and make reference to quantitative and qualitative evidence. The Heritage Fund project sought to build capacity within staff and volunteers, create training and employment opportunities, establish a programme of events and education activities, engage community groups and improve access, ensuring that Provan Hall is inclusive. The consultant will consider:
a. Were the activities undertaken effective in delivering on the stated project aims?
b. In what ways did participants in the project benefit?
c. Is Provan Hall a more inclusive heritage site following the work undertaken in the project?
d. Have the activities developed people’s knowledge, understanding, appreciation of heritage and skills?
e. Has Provan Hall been able to develop new income streams?
f. Have new employment opportunities been created?
If you have experience of undertaking evaluation projects, particularly for Heritage Fund projects, and have capacity to deliver a report by mid-October 2025, we would be delighted to hear from you.
There is a fee of £4,200 (inclusive) for this evaluation project.
The deadline is Tuesday 29 July 2025 at 23:55.
