Yara Pocklington is part of the global company Yara International ASA and are a leader in the product development, manufacture and marketing of speciality nutrients & biostimulant products for use in regenerative agriculture worldwide. Founded in 1905, we have been present in Pocklington since 1967 and have a global presence with more than 18,000 employees and sales in almost 160 countries.
Do you want to train to become a Product Development Chemist?
If so, the opportunity is here for you to learn practical skills and earn a salary whilst also studying for a degree. 4 days per week practical work experience within the Product Development laboratory and 1 day per week study leave for online learning with Manchester Metropolitan University to gain the Laboratory Scientist Degree:
* Carry out research and laboratory investigations to develop new product formulations and processes.
* Evaluate raw materials for use in new and existing products.
* Progress new formulations from lab scale to full production.
* Discuss and develop new product concepts and communicate or present accordingly.
* Study towards BSc (Hons) Chemical Science Degree with Manchester Metropolitan University via tutor-supported e-learning course (part-time over 4 years).
* Attend residential modules at Manchester Metropolitan University as required.
Profile
The ideal candidate should have:
* 3 A Levels (one being Chemistry) equating to a minimum 104 UCAS tariff points
* Level 2 English and Maths
* Good standard of IT literacy
* An aptitude for practical chemistry.
* A broad interest in science relating to the chemical industry/fertilisers/agriculture.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines and balance priorities.
* Discipline and self-motivation to balance the requirements of a challenging job and studying for a degree.
Additional Information
This is an amazing opportunity to gain practical experience and a Degree qualification at the same time.
We will provide professional support and opportunity for the experiences required for passing the Degree course, in addition to a competitive salary, private health, pension and all course fees for the 4 year period.
In return you will need to be a self-starter and demonstrate commitment to work and study.
