Job Description Our client is a growing, values-led Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality consultancy with a clear mission: make work safe by making safety good for business. This is not an “audit and leave” consultancy. The team partners closely with customers, gets to know their businesses, and delivers practical, reasonable, and genuinely helpful safety solutions. The culture is open, human, and collaborative — professional without being corporate, serious about safety but never detached from reality. The business also operates a successful safety technology arm, delivering a market-leading health and safety app and software platform that underpins much of their consultancy work. This is a full-time, remote SHEQ Advisor role, covering a large geographical patch across the North Midlands and Northern England. Travel will form a significant part of the role, so location and willingness to travel are key. You will provide competent, practical health and safety advice to a diverse client base across multiple sectors, while building long-term relationships and supporting client retention year on year. You’ll be trusted to manage your own workload and diary, with support from an experienced internal team. Key Responsibilities Conduct site-based and desktop risk assessments Provide ad hoc H&S advice via phone and email Develop Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, COSHH assessments Create safety policies, procedures, templates, toolbox talks and training materials Build and manage customer accounts within a proprietary H&S software platform Develop and implement management systems Complete gap analyses and improvement plans and deliver against them Work closely with customers across a wide range of industries and risk profiles Client Sectors Include Construction and roofing Manufacturing and printing Waste and recycling Education (schools and colleges) Utilities and design Farms, leisure and visitor attractions You’ll need to be comfortable switching between environments and adapting your communication style accordingly — from site-based teams to senior stakeholders. The Right Person This role would suit someone who is technically competent and commercially aware, with the confidence to give advice that is sensible, proportionate, and tailored to the real world. You’ll be: Comfortable working independently and remotely Organised, self-managing, and confident planning your own diary Adaptable, able to “switch hats” between industries and tasks A strong communicator who can build trust quickly Practical, solutions-focused, and not afraid to roll your sleeves up Essential Experience & Qualifications Minimum 2 years’ experience in a UK health and safety role Level 3 qualification in Health & Safety (minimum) Strong experience in risk assessment and compliance Good working knowledge of UK H&S legislation Confident IT skills and analytical ability Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use Based no further south than Sheffield Desirable Multi-site or multi-client experience Experience in construction, manufacturing, education, waste, utilities or similar sectors Environmental or Quality management experience or qualifications What’s on Offer £34,000 – £38,000 salary (DOE) Mileage paid at £0.45 per mile Business credit card (no personal expense claims) Annual performance-based bonus Client retention and sales incentive scheme Private healthcare Pension scheme 23 days annual leave bank holidays Laptop, phone, iPad and full PPE provided Plus Genuine flexibility and respect for work/life balance Quarterly team social events A supportive, non-corporate culture that values people Clear progression: this role is expected to develop into a SHEQ Consultant, with future leadership opportunities as the business grows The chance to work for a business that cares about doing safety properly, not producing paperwork for the sake of it This role won’t suit everyone — and that’s intentional. But for the right person, it offers autonomy, variety, progression, and the chance to be part of something genuinely different. Sound like your kind of role? We’d love to hear from you.
