As Panjtan Ltd continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team at our Leeds headquarters and help us strengthen our supply chain and procurement strategy.
Role Overview
As a Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of stock for our network of convenience stores. You will manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, monitor inventory levels, and ensure our stores are well-stocked with high-demand and profitable products.
The ideal candidate will have experience in retail purchasing, particularly in convenience or grocery sectors, and a solid understanding of consumer trends, supplier networks, and pricing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
* Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
* Maintain optimal stock levels across all store locations to meet customer demand and reduce wastage.
* Monitor sales data and customer preferences to inform purchasing decisions.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesalers, distributors, and key suppliers.
* Analyse market trends and competitor activity to identify new product opportunities.
* Prepare purchase orders and manage procurement documentation in line with company policy.
* Work closely with store managers to forecast demand and gather feedback on product performance.
* Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality and availability.
* Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including health and safety, food standards, and trading requirements.
Requirements
* Proven experience in retail purchasing, particularly in convenience or grocery sectors.
* Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
* Excellent knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control.
* Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with vendors and internal teams.
* Familiarity with procurement software and systems.
* Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Knowledge of local and ethnic product ranges is a plus.
