Job Advert: Geotechnical Manager
Location: Derby
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 + Package
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering, groundworks and earthworks contractor who are seeking a Geotechnical Manager to join their growing team in Derby. This is a confidential opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most technically demanding infrastructure and earthworks projects.
The successful candidate will lead the geotechnical function across multiple live sites, managing a team of engineers and technicians while providing technical expertise throughout the full project lifecycle—from tender to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage the commercial performance of geotechnical testing across multiple sites.
* Schedule and coordinate daily work for site technicians to ensure maximum efficiency.
* Review ground investigation reports and provide input during the tender and construction phases.
* Produce Earthwork Strategies and ensure alignment with client specifications and industry standards.
* Analyse and report on geotechnical test results, ensuring specifications and frequencies are met.
* Produce comprehensive validation reports upon project completion.
* Attend client meetings and contribute to project planning, procurement, and post-construction reviews.
* Lead and mentor the geotechnical engineering team, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience managing geotechnical projects within the earthworks or civil engineering sectors.
* Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to manage testing budgets and performance.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage geotechnical and chemical testing data across multiple projects.
* Comfortable working under pressure and delivering to deadlines.
* Clean Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable (but not essential):
* CSCS Card
* SSSTS Qualification
