As Head of Systems Engineering you will be taking responsibility for the delivery of projects or workstreams that supports the delivery of the organisation's strategic objectives. The role will require UK and international travel to customer sites with a need to work on site aboard a variety of marine vessels afloat and in shipyards. The role also requires the ability to comply with UK National Security vetting process to achieve and maintain Security Clearance.

As the Head of Systems Engineering, you will enjoy the opportunity to:
* HSE - Responsible for ensuring that all application engineering processes and methods are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards
* Assisting with assuring and managing product safety through compliant use of proven processes and lead closure strategies to timely completion
* Leading the System Engineering Capability and systems thinking
* Manage and lead the Systems Engineering team
* Specify Systems Engineering and process requirements and make technical decisions
* Work with the programme management teams to ensure delivery of the optimised technical solution that satisfies all the product requirements
* Creating, evolving, validating and maintaining the product requirements through interfaces with the Customer (including platform designer/integrator) and business
* Defining & estimating the technical programme of works that delivers a product that is fully compliant to all the product requirements & fully integrated with the other elements of the programme
* Implement effective Technical Risk Management and Project Gated Review Processes for the work packages
* Leading the change management process within engineering to ensure that the level of change and the incorporation of it are managed
* Working with the Capability Manager, support engineering capability development and sustainment as a key element of programme technical delivery
Head of Systems Engineering requirements:
To be considered for this exciting role, you will require:
* Qualified to at least degree level or possess equivalent industry experience
* At least 7 years or more experience in the management of projects / programmes of increasing complexity.
* Significant systems domain knowledge and experience of naval or marine automation and control systems would be desirable
* Has experience in all stages of a project lifecycle and has been responsible for the delivery of one or more of those stages.
* Knowledge and experience of delivering systems complying with naval and marine standards, specifications and safety standards
* Proven ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and to make balanced decisions in complex situations and with incomplete information
* Exposure to non-core project management roles such as purchasing, commercial, engineering management etc.
* Experience of setting up and managing multi-functional teams.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with senior management.
