Allocator / Allocations Assistant

We're seeking an experienced Buyer to take a leading role in our continued success.
Purpose of the role:
The Allocation function is the final step in buying and merchandising and is responsible for allocating stock from the DC to the retail store network.
Scope:
Although seen as an ‘entry level position’, the allocations team plays a critical role in influencing the success of products. You will report to the allocation manager but will work daily with the Buying and Merchandising team to become their ‘product replenishment specialist’ who is able to maximise sales and sell-through. You will also build a network of store contacts to influence allocations across departments. Your knowledge and skills will provide a platform for career advancement.
Role Responsibilities:
* Take responsibility for your department's warehouse stock.
* Allocate stock effectively to stores using various methods.
* Understand the products being allocated and their impact.
* Be proactive about upcoming events relevant to your department to ensure correct store stock levels.
* Liaise closely with Buying and Merchandising teams to meet stock placement expectations.
* Plan stock levels around seasonal events.
* Flag good or poor selling products to Merchandising in a timely manner.
* Support management with ad-hoc analysis and reports.
* Prioritise fast-moving or urgent stock.
* Communicate with stores about stock issues and manage customer orders.
* Solve stock issues preventing allocation from the DC.
* Manage promoted or marked-down products appropriately.
* Assist with direct-to-store order creation and system maintenance.
Key Measures:
* Achieve 97%+ core line availability with Buying and Merchandising.
* Maximise store availability of promoted/event stock.
* Review all lines weekly or more frequently as needed.
* Meet stock level targets per line and category.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Enthusiastic, confident, and commercially driven with an interest in retail and career progression.
* Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
* Confident communicator at all levels.
* Retail experience is advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Self-motivated with good common sense.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (training provided).
