Private Sector Engagement Officer – Job Profile
Are you passionate about helping people find a home? The Private Sector Engagement Officer role is all about matching people in need of housing in Gloucester to the right home for them. You will be part of the Housing Projects and Strategy Team. The team delivers key projects for the City Council alongside delivering more homes and working with partners on more effective use of both new and existing housing stock to meet the City’s housing needs. Private Sector Engagement is a vital element of the team’s work. Officers work with private sector landlords to provide homes that allow the council to meet its housing duties, and support tenants to sustain their tenancies. The current market and level of demand for housing makes this extremely challenging. The team works at pace with both landlords and the Housing Services team to deliver outcomes. We see ourselves as at the cutting edge of best practice, continuously looking for innovative solutions and work in a highly collaborative way. This post offers an exciting opportunity to continue this important work. In this key role, you will be responsible for finding new private sector supply, using the existing Landlord Incentive scheme to help procure private sector properties, ensuring good quality accommodation is provided, working with landlords and tenants to ensure new tenancies start successfully and are sustained, ideally leading to continued lettings with the landlord. The council is not currently able to offer sponsorship in this role. Candidates will need to have right to work that enables them to commit to at least 6 months’ employment. Right to work is not transferable from a sponsored role held with another employer. If you are an Internal applicant and consider yourself to have a disability, please declare this in an email to recruitment@gloucestershire.gov.uk, as this is NOT currently covered in the application due to a technical error. By providing this information, you can choose to be considered for a guaranteed interview under our Disability Confident pledge if you meet all essential criteria. It also enables the recruiting manager to arrange any reasonable adjustments you may need during the process.

We are a disability‑confident employer committed to removing barriers to employment for those with disabilities or long‑term health conditions. Reasonable adjustments will be made to the recruitment procedure to ensure that no‑one is disadvantaged because of their disability. Please contact the recruitment team if you require support or reasonable adjustments during the application or recruitment process at recruitment@gloucestershire.gov.uk.
