The company prides itself on delivering excellent service and is seeking a Transport General Manager - 3PL Contract Logistics to oversee the end-to-end transport function.
The Role:
As the Transport General Manager, you will oversee multi-site transport operations, managing a team of over 300 employees and a fleet of over 400 vehicles. Responsibilities include:
* Leading the national planning team of 6 experts.
* Managing Transport Health & Safety, Driver Training & Risk Assessors.
* Handling an annual budget of approximately £50m.
* Ensuring operational compliance, safety, and fleet maintenance across national transport.
* Optimizing logistics operations through internal synergy and continuous improvement.
* Implementing best practices and utilizing TMS & Planning platforms effectively.
* Supporting team development and providing growth opportunities.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have:
* A background in Logistics, Distribution, and Supply Chain (Essential).
* A CPC National / International qualification (Essential).
* 5+ years of Transport General Management experience within a 3PL, FMCG, or Retail environment (Essential).
* Experience managing operations with headcount of over 250 and assets over 350 (Essential).
* Previous budget management of over £40m (Essential).
* A passion for people development, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
* Experience dealing with unions (Advantageous).
* Strong leadership skills and talent development ability (Essential).
* Lean Six Sigma / Prince2 certifications (Advantageous).
* Must be able to commute to Northamptonshire 5 days a week (Essential).
