We are working with a high-performing financial services firm operating across Trading, Market Making, Sales Trading and Investment Banking who are seeking to hire a specialist within its Middle Office / Trade Support function. This role sits at the centre of the trade lifecycle, acting as a key control point between the front office and broader infrastructure teams, ensuring the seamless execution, validation and reporting of trades in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
The position will support trading desks by overseeing trade execution processes, ensuring accuracy and best execution across multiple asset classes. Day to day, this will involve supervising client trades through matching and allocation workflows, monitoring DTCC CTM activity, and ensuring trades are affirmed and resolved within required timeframes. You will take ownership of trade booking, amendments and cancellations, ensuring all activity is accurately captured and controlled, alongside maintaining responsibility for timely and accurate trade reporting.
A core component of the role is Best Execution oversight, including the production and review of daily Best Execution reports, working closely with trading teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies. The role will also involve managing client connectivity, including setting up and maintaining FIX connections and creating bespoke rules aligned to client requirements, while acting as a key escalation point for matching, allocation and execution-related queries.
You will assist with allocations Fidessa, manage client matching processes, and resolve trade breaks and discrepancies, whilst also supporting capital markets activity including IPOs, secondary placings and block trades through coordination with Investment Banking teams. Alongside this, the role offers exposure to FX execution and client conversions where required.
Beyond BAU activity, there is a strong focus on improving the control environment and operational efficiency. You will be expected to implement and enhance controls to mitigate risk, contribute to automation initiatives, and streamline processes across the trade support function. The role also carries an element of team oversight, including providing guidance and regular one-to-ones with junior team members, and acting as a key point of interaction across Trading, Operations, Compliance, Risk and Technology.
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience within a Trade Support / Middle Office / Execution Support function
* Strong understanding of equities trading environments and post-trade workflows
* Hands-on experience with Fidessa and Harmony Traiana advantageous.
* Solid knowledge of Best Execution requirements and reporting frameworks.
* Experience supporting IPO allocations, placings or capital markets activity is advantageous
* Strong control mindset with the ability to identify and mitigate operational risk
* Experience improving processes and implementing automation
* High attention to detail with strong analytical capability
* Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with front office stakeholders
* Strong Excel skills; exposure to automation tools (e.g. VBA) beneficial
