Head of Finance
Title: Head of Finance (part-time)
Reporting To: Managing Director
Location: Fordingbridge (Hampshire) where our HQ is located or Poole (Dorset) with adhoc travel between sites.
Salary: Up to £65k p/a pro-rata (DOE)
Overview
We are looking for a Part time (2-3 days a week) Head of Finance to oversee the company's financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, planning, and analysis. Key duties include managing our finance team, developing long-term financial strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, providing insights to senior management, and collaborating with various departments to optimise financial performance and drive growth.
We are looking for someone dynamic with a strong commercial background with a business partnering mindset, strong analytical and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
· Financial Planning & Analysis:
Prepare detailed financial reports, forecasts, and budgets and work annually with our external auditors.
· Budget Management:
Develop, manage, and monitor budgets controlling cashflow and managing costs whilst identify savings opportunities.
· Financial Reporting:
Oversee the production of accurate and timely financial statements and statutory accounts.
· Strategic Guidance:
Provide advice and insights to senior management on financial plans, market trends, and investment opportunities.
· Team Leadership:
Manage and lead the finance team, to include accounting, payroll payments, and accounts payable/receivable functions.
· Risk Management:
Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring the company maintains a secure fiscal environment.
· Compliance:
Ensure the organisation adheres to all relevant financial regulations and legal requirements and understands the SRA accounting rules.
· Process Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement in accounting practices and financial system.
· External Relationships:
Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and statutory organisations.
Essential Qualities, Skills and Qualifications
· Education: We are looking for someone who is CIMA/ICAEW/ACCA membership and is ideally is at least 5 years PQE.
· Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.
· Leadership: Proven ability to lead and direct a team and work with the Senior Management team to influence / optimise the current business.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present complex financial information clearly.
· Technical Proficiency: Expertise in all Microsoft applications and ideally has legal background using leading Case Management Software.
· Business Acumen: A deep understanding of business principles and financial management practices.
· Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
· Problem-Solving: The ability to identify and resolve complex financial issues.
