Job overview
This is a busy position on an adult Trauma ward, which cares for patients pre- and post-operatively following surgery for a wide range of injuries. The ward clerk role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the ward. This is a really exciting time to join UHD. We are a three-site acute trust with ‘university hospital’ status, due to our partnership with Bournemouth University, delivering highly regarded health services to the county of Dorset, and beyond. We employ around 10,000 staff, with an ambitious estates programme to deliver state-of-the-art facilities to meet current and future healthcare needs.
Base Location: Poole
Interview Date: TBC
Main duties of the job
1. Welcome patients and visitors to the ward, answer questions, and provide relevant information in a sensitive manner, referring to qualified team members as necessary.
2. Undertake clerical and administrative duties on behalf of the ward; liaise with team members and other departments to contribute to the effective and efficient running of the ward.
Working for our organisation
Our values define who we are as #TeamUHD. They underpin everything we do now and in the future. They shape how we treat our patients, visitors, and colleagues.
UHD is investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme. Some services may move sites temporarily or long-term during this period. Recruiting managers will be happy to answer questions about this at interview.
There is a planned move for this service during Winter x5, when this role and its base will relocate to Bournemouth. Upon relocation, excess mileage allowance/reimbursement will not apply, and travel between the postholder’s home and work base will be considered a commute. Other changes will be handled in line with Trust/National terms and conditions.
