Are you a Payroll Manager/Officer looking to take full ownership of an in-house payroll function? We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business near Dudley that is bringing its payroll operations in-house after previously outsourcing them. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Payroll professional to lead the transition, implement best practices, and ensure smooth payroll delivery for both UK and ROI employees. Reporting to the HR Manager (with a dotted line to the Finance Manager), you’ll manage end-to-end payroll processing, external submissions, support quarterly forecasting for Group and collaborate closely with the wider HR, finance, and operations teams. Your role will be central to both the accuracy of employee pay and the success of this in-house transformation. Key Responsibilities of Payroll Officer End-to-End Payroll Processing * Run two monthly payrolls (UK & ROI) accurately and on time of r c450 employees; * Process starters, leavers, overtime, bonuses, salary sacrifice, and statutory payments; * Administer pension auto-enrolment and deductions; * Reconcile time and attendance data; Compliance & Reporting * Submit RTI, P60s, P45s, and P11Ds; * Provide headcount and payroll cost reporting to Group; * Maintain employee records and ensure data security; * Process payments through the banking system; Stakeholder Collaboration * Work closely with HR, Finance, and Department Managers; * Handle payroll queries from staff; * Support general HR tasks including holiday tracking, absence reporting, and contracts. Payroll Transition & Set-Up * Lead the transition from outsourced to in-house payroll; * Support the configuration and implementation of Sage 50 Payroll; * Embed strong controls and accurate processes; Ideally as Payroll Officer will have experience in * 3 years hands on proven payroll experience; * Previous experience of in-house payroll implementation desirable; * Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll; * Ability to manually calculate payroll when required; * Excellent understanding of tax, pensions, and statutory requirements; * Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; * High level of accuracy and discretion; * Proactive, organised, and inquisitive; * Team player with strong communication skills; * Able to meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality; * Comfortable working in a full-time, office-based role.
