Tendering and Design Engineer - Perm About the Role We’re seeking a skilled Tendering and Design Engineer to join our client’s team. This position plays a key role in understanding customer requirements for equipped pillars and translating them into practical, cost-effective designs. The role involves working closely with manufacturing teams to ensure that all products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Role Overview As a Tendering and Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for producing general arrangement drawings, wiring schematics, and bills of materials. You’ll use these to prepare accurate quotations and ensure tenders meet both customer specifications and business profitability objectives. This role suits someone who is technically adept, customer-focused, and proactive in identifying and resolving issues efficiently. Key Responsibilities * Produce complete product drawing packages in line with customer requirements. * Prepare detailed quotations and submit them to customers. * Specify components and create accurate Bills of Material (BOMs). * Ensure tender margins meet business profitability targets. * Design products with manufacturability and efficiency in mind. * Review drawing packages with senior electricians to ensure compliance and accuracy. * Act on feedback from manufacturing to implement corrective actions and improvements. * Update drawings to reflect “as built” product status after changes. * Liaise with customers and suppliers as needed to support project delivery. * Undertake other tasks that contribute to quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Qualifications and Experience Essential: * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. * Skilled in producing drawings (GA and wiring schematics); AutoCAD experience preferred. * Strong understanding of electrical switchgear and low-voltage distribution systems. * Experience liaising with customers and interpreting technical requirements.
