We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and highly motivated clinical psychologist to join this well-established service in a leadership role. We are looking for an individual who is innovative and keen to work with the multidisciplinary team to support and develop services for young children with neurodevelopmental needs and their families.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will also be a source of psychological expertise for the team, providing dynamic & inspiring leadership. The post holder will provide clinical supervision, line managementand guidance to our established highly skilled team, in addition to carrying out assessments and consultations.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for providing a clinical psychology service for children with additional needs who are under the care of the SCT. The post holder will be a clinical specialist within the area of autism as well as having specialist knowledge and experience in a wide range of contextual and clinical presentations relevant to the Early Years population, including ADHD and developmental trauma. The clinical psychologist will provide psychological assessment and intervention and offer advice and consultation on clients psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.


Person Specification


Education & Qualifications

* Post-graduate/doctoral level qualification in Clinical psychology, as recognised by HCPC
* HPC or other relevant professional registration
* oAdditional training/qualifications in relevant child mental health assessment and treatment approaches


Skills and Abilities

* Able to confidently and competently undertake assessment of autism and overlapping conditions
* Skills in assessment and intervention for children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, their families and carers
* Ability to offer sensitive and reflective supervision to qualified clinical psychologists, and junior staff/trainees.
* Skills in assessment of risk and safety-planning in relation to mental health and safeguarding issues.
* Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, actively engaging in and supporting clinic timetables, peer support, team dynamics, training and skills development


Knowledge and experience

* Knowledge and extensive experience of supervising trainee clinical psychologists other junior staff/professionals
* Experience of working with children and families with complex safeguarding issues
* Leadership and line management experience

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£61,927 to £68,676 a yearPer Annum (pro rata) Inclusive of HCAS
