The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Assembly Lead to manage the clean room assembly operations at our cutting-edge R&D centre in Oxford. This is a key leadership role within the facility, responsible for overseeing cell assembly lines, ensuring safe, efficient operations, and supporting the delivery of high-quality data and prototype cells for ongoing research projects.

Key Responsibility Areas
* Assembly Operations & Clean Room Management Manage daily operations within the dry room/clean room environment. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Lead continuous improvement efforts for assembly processes.
* Scheduling & Coordination Work closely with the Facility Lead and project managers to schedule cell builds efficiently and meet R&D timelines.
* Data Management & Reporting Maintain accurate documentation of all builds and associated testing. Support scientists in data interpretation and traceability, and communicate outcomes clearly to project teams.
* Equipment Oversight Ensure assembly equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and operational. Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables. Stay current with emerging equipment technologies and upgrades.
* Team Leadership Lead and mentor a team of technicians in daily operations, providing training, troubleshooting guidance, and supporting high-quality, consistent output from the assembly line.
About You
You’re technically skilled, safety-conscious, and thrive in a structured, high-precision environment. You have a collaborative mindset and enjoy leading and mentoring others in a lab or manufacturing setting.
Essential Skills & Experience
* 1–5 years of experience in a battery assembly facility or similar high-precision manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of the lithium-ion cell assembly process, including dry room operations.
* Proficient with common assembly tools, equipment, and measurement techniques.
* Experience with SOP adherence, troubleshooting, and lab management practices like 5S and GLP.
* Comfortable communicating clearly with engineers, scientists, and technicians.
* Prior experience leading or mentoring junior team members.
Qualifications
* Technical qualification in engineering, materials science, or a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience.
* Ideal for experienced technicians ready to step into a leadership role within an advanced R&D facility.
