Overview
The post-holder will be responsible for the collation, analysis, and presentation of focused information to support the organisation's contractual requirements and operational needs. The post-holder will handle a large amount of patient identifiable information and must treat all information in accordance with the organisation's Information Governance policy. The role includes developing analysis to support operational performance management and informing decision making for medium- and long-term planning and strategy development.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with services and contracts leads to deliver contractual reporting requirements.
* Work with BI colleagues, the business change team, system configuration team, service managers, executives, clinicians and commissioning groups to support reporting needs.
* Manage travel expenses within an agreed individual cap and, with the BI Team Leader, write business cases for any training exceeding this cap.
* Scope, design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards with input from service leads and dashboard users.
* Automate KPI extraction and make KPIs visible to services where possible.
* Design, complete and document new reports; perform contractual reporting tasks (running reports, coordinating commentary and responses) to strict deadlines.
* Produce thorough documentation for all work, keep issue management and planning systems up to date, and engage with agile methodologies to ensure tasks are clear and adoptable by others.
* Manage time to deliver tasks within agreed timescales; promote BI across the organisation through presentations, demos, and advocacy.
* Utilise the data warehouse for standard queries, resolve data discrepancies, and compile high-standard reports with clear guidance on data reported.
* Create new reports/dashboards as required by contract changes or strategic priorities; identify opportunities to enhance BI across the organisation.
* Liaise with the system configuration team to locate data in the data warehouse and translate frontend data into warehouse data.
* Advise on and test reporting capability of new system configurations; provide specialist BI advice to staff, managers and directors; guide BI requirements into deliverable products.
* Respond to data collection and reporting challenges; work with service leads to improve data measure understanding and data quality.
* Advise contracts teams, commissioners and service leads on KPI development and contract performance reporting; respond to contractual changes with reporting updates.
* Be the BI representative on project teams for discrete projects as requested by the BI Team Leader; review data collected to identify inconsistencies and assist services in validating potential errors to ensure accuracy and completeness; ensure timely and accurate internal and external reporting deadlines.
* Obtain authorization for external submission of reports from the named Senior Manager(s); ensure external reports are ready for senior management review within the agreed timescales.
* Support BI and organisational strategy; provide general training on information as required.
* Engage with the BI Team Leader to contribute to the BI Strategy and other departmental documents; develop, monitor and support the data warehouse; investigate discrepancies and assist with ETL process improvements; investigate national mandatory submissions and liaise with relevant services.
* Represent ECCH in communications with national bodies to organise mandatory submissions; coordinate with IT teams to provide technical requirements for submissions; deputise for the BI Team Leader when required.
* Work with external experts and contractors as requested by the BI Team Leader.
Notes
The role does not involve the development and configuration of SystmOne. A background knowledge of SystmOne or other clinical systems used by ECCH is helpful to state clear BI requirements for configuration.
