My client is a leading UK property consultancy, delivering expert advice across planning, development, valuation, agency and building consultancy. Due to continued growth and strategic expansion, they are now seeking an commercially minded Director of Town Planning to lead and grow their planning offering, strengthen client relationships, and play a key role in the ongoing success of the business.
The opportunity:
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in the growth of an established consultancy, either by joining as a senior planning leader with the credibility and commercial capability to win work and generate new business from day one, or through confidential discussions around bringing an existing team or fee-earning group where there is strong cultural alignment and a clear business case. With full backing from senior leadership, robust infrastructure and cross-disciplinary support, this role offers genuine autonomy and a clear mandate to shape and scale the planning offer.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice on complex planning applications, appeals and development strategy
* Lead major planning projects from inception to delivery
* Identify and convert new business opportunities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, landowners, investors and public sector clients
* Mentor and support junior team members
* Contribute to marketing initiatives and thought leadership
You must have:
* Chartered membership of the RTPI (or equivalent)
* Experience in town planning consultancy or a senior planning role
* Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking
* Excellent leadership and communication abilities
* A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset
