Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quarry Phase 2, Process Manager to lead the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of our quarry site. Reporting to the Works Manager, you will oversee all phase 2 (yard) activities, including production planning, compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, colleague management as well as contractors, and contribute to continuous improvement in operational efficiency and product quality. You will be the “Responsible Person” on site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Closely monitor all areas of the day to day process operations ensuring it is carried out to the highest standard
2. Ensure production levels are maintained to meet business needs, balancing sales and output through liaising with Commercial Teams
3. Manage operations safely and effectively, ensuring all legal and safety procedures are followed.
4. Manage and monitor operational costs and budgets, seeking efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
5. Participate in quality control procedures to ensure materials meet required standards and specifications
6. Monitor and maintain equipment and machinery through preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and improve productivity
7. Ensure accurate recording and reporting of materials produced, stock levels, maintenance, and safety incidents
8. Drive continuous improvement in operations, quality, and sustainability initiatives
9. Provide input for long-term planning, including quarry development and rehabilitation
10. Lead, manage and develop a team of operatives, supervisors, and contractors, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and promoting engagement and teamwork
11. Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits to ensure ongoing operational safety and regulatory compliance.
12. Implement and enforce robust health, safety, and environmental policies in compliance with legal and corporate standards (e.g., Quarry Regulations 1999, PUWER, COSHH).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
13. Significant experience in quarry operations or extractive industries, with a proven leadership track record
14. Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices relevant to quarrying
15. Strong leadership and people management skills
16. Competence in using quarry management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
17. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
18. Effective communication and interpersonal skills and stakeholder management skills
19. Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
20. Financial acumen and budgeting experience
21. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
22. Valid UK driver's licence
