Socode are supporting a company that designs and builds specialist electronic sensing and surveillance systems, used in defence, security, and critical infrastructure environments. Their work sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and real-world deployment, with systems designed to operate reliably in demanding conditions. They’re looking to hire a Graduate Test Engineer to support the test, configuration, and ongoing support of these systems. This is a practical, hands-on graduate role. You’ll be working directly with electronic hardware, learning how complex systems are tested, debugged, and validated, while supporting production builds and engineering activities. What you’ll be doing: Testing and configuring electronic and radar-based systems Setting systems up, running tests, and verifying performance against specifications Investigating faults and supporting repair activities for production and returned units Supporting production builds and RMA processes Assisting engineers with prototype builds, testing, and investigations Helping to build or adapt simple test setups, fixtures, or jigs Recording test results and keeping documentation up to date Feeding back issues, failures, and improvement ideas to the wider team Supporting field trials and system demonstrations when required Keeping lab equipment, tools, and your work area organised and ESD-compliant What they’re looking for A degree (or equivalent) in electronic engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline An interest in hands-on test, validation, and fault-finding work Some exposure to building, testing, or debugging electronic systems (academic, placement, or project-based) A methodical, practical approach with good attention to detail Confidence using standard lab equipment and following good ESD practice Someone reliable who finishes work properly and raises issues early A team player who works well alongside engineers and production staff
