Position Summary
We are looking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic person to join our highly successful and inclusive Sixth Form College. The successful candidate will be a committed, inspirational and dynamic individual with a passion for teaching. English is part of our Faculty for Business, English and Law, offering GCSE English Language and Functional Skills English, as well as A-levels in English Language, English Literature, English Language and Literature and Film Studies. The faculty has dedicated teaching and specialist spaces and supports a range of extra‑curricular activity to enrich the taught curriculum, including creative writing.

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high quality courses and successful learning outcomes for students.
* Teach groups at all levels and across the range of courses offered within the curriculum area, including preparation and marking involved in each course and provision of tutorial support.
* Motivate students of all abilities to achieve their potential.
* Prepare detailed schemes of work and course materials to support student learning.
* Undertake internal assessment of coursework for students entered for examination courses, as required by the examination boards.
* Encourage independent learning through appropriate homework tasks.
* Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
* Ensure all students are treated fair, without discrimination, and promote diversity.
* Provide regular, frequent and constructive feedback to students on their progress.
* Maintain records of student progress.
* Promote acceptable standards of conduct of students.
* Complete class registers and other administrative tasks, accounting for absences and lateness in accordance with the staff handbook procedures.
* Compile achievement records and references for pupils, as required.
* Follow College quality procedures and produce the course SAR where there is no team leader.
* Contribute to the Enrichment Programme, including Careers and Recreational Activities.
* Collaborate within course/curriculum/learning area teams for curriculum development and liaison activities.
* Participate in meetings with colleagues and parents as required.
* Undertake appropriate professional development activities and maintain/work toward PSP standards.
* Carry out any other duties reasonably requested within the post.
* Work within the framework of College Policies, e.g. Equal Opportunities, Quality, ICT and Health & Safety.
* Provide information to College Information Systems in the required format.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Education to degree level or equivalent.
* Recognised teaching qualification.
* Recent experience of teaching (subject) in a school/college or relevant industry experience.
* Good communication skills with staff and students.
* Good organisational, planning and administrative skills.
* Ability to form good working relationships with students and colleagues.
