Job Title: Investigating Officer – PIP1 Location: Surrey Police (across various departments) Contract Type: Temporary Hours: 36 hours per week Pay: Umbrella - £23.02 | PAYE - £17.24 Start Date: ASAP Duration: Initial 3 months, with potential for extension (reviewed monthly) About the Role: Due to increased demand and ongoing recruitment activity, Surrey Police are seeking experienced PIP1 Investigators to join their teams on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to frontline policing by conducting investigations into volume and priority crime. As an Investigating Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in gathering and reviewing evidence, supporting investigations, and ensuring high-quality victim and witness care throughout the criminal justice process. Key Responsibilities: Conduct investigations into volume and priority crime at PIP1 level Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects using appropriate techniques Prepare and manage court files, including remand and expedited files Handle exhibits and disclosure material in line with legislation Work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies (e.g. CPS) Support safeguarding duties where required (e.g., DA, child protection, vulnerable adults) Provide high-quality updates and statements in line with evidential standards Maintain accurate records and manage caseloads efficiently Essential Criteria: PIP1 qualified (applications from PIP2 welcome) Competent in suspect and witness interviewing Demonstrated experience in file building for prosecution Strong communication and decision-making skills Proven ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously Working knowledge of criminal law and the criminal justice system Full UK driving licence Why Join?
