We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Shunter Driver to join our Production team and Plant team at Kirkby-in-Ashfield, playing a vital role in keeping our yard operations and trailer movements safe and efficient.

What you'll be doing
* Safely shunting trailers between company sites, customer premises, and third-party yards.
* Managing yard operations with our Plant team, including trailer clearance, rotation, and positioning to support collections and incoming deliveries.
* Conducting daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting any defects promptly.
* Ensuring safe coupling, uncoupling, and movement of trailers across different yard environments.
* Adhering to DVSA and EU Drivers’ Hours Regulations, including tachograph procedures where applicable.
* Supporting operational efficiency by coordinating trailer availability with the Production team.
* Understand and act in accordance with Van Elle’s policies and procedures.
* Completing other reasonable tasks as required to support the smooth running of the yard and production operations.
Who we're looking for
* Valid HGV Class 1 Driving Licence.
* Up-to-date Driver CPC qualification.
* Previous experience in shunting or yard driving is desirable.
* Strong understanding of safe trailer manoeuvring, coupling, and uncoupling.
* Awareness of transport health & safety regulations.
* Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond to changing operational demands.
* Reliable, proactive, and safety-conscious with strong communication and teamwork skills.
Other Requirements:
* Eligible to work and live in the UK.
* Flexibility to travel to different sites as required.
* Able to pass and maintain medical clearance for driving.

* Hours of work are typically 07:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. However, some flexibility may be required, including occasional weekend work, usually on Saturday mornings.
