The post holder will provide professional leadership to inform the education, learning and development of the nursing and midwifery workforce to ensure the delivery of high standards of care and service user experience. The post holder will lead on the development of, and sustain, an effective learning environment for nursing, midwifery and specialist community public health nursing students on a Trust-wide basis. They will specifically lead on the development of a supervision and assessment governance framework to ensure the regulatory body’s requirements for nurses, midwives and specialist community public health nursing (Nursing and Midwifery Council) are met. The post holder will lead a team of Practice Education Facilitators who will provide an operational role in ensuring the high quality of placement learning experience for students is maintained, to ensure students completing programmes for registration or recording a qualification with NMC competence. The post holder will establish and maintain partnership working with relevant education providers and will be responsible for providing strong professional support and leadership for Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses and Team Leaders, Nominated persons, Practice.
Responsibilities
* Lead on ensuring the education of nurses and midwives is delivered through an effective governance framework including review of learning and development activities and their impact on patient outcomes.
* Lead on the development of an effective learning culture that maximises competence acquisition of students on nursing/midwifery/specialist public health nursing programmes to provide high quality patient/client care.
* Lead on the development of an effective infrastructure to support the supervision and assessment of nursing and midwifery students in practice.
Skills and Qualifications
* A Level 1 Registered Midwife on the live NMC Register.
* Ability to demonstrate participation in a service improvement and/or practice development within the last 2 years.
* Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car is essential. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved.
