Our Area Operations team has an opportunity for a Trainee Fitter to join our team in Stockport.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced electrical/mechanical maintenance technician/fitter to inspect and maintain the electrical/mechanical network in and around substation sites owned and maintained by a distribution network operator.
Principal accountabilities
1. Removing and replacing large heavy plant as part of a team
2. Liaising with various departments to complete site attendance to help maintain essential services
3. Checking and calibrating plant and equipment to make sure they are in full working order
4. Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
5. Fixing faults or arranging for replacements to be installed
6. Keeping the inspection & maintenance manager informed of progress
7. As a technician, you’ll service and repair the equipment and be able to work on hydraulic, pneumatic or computerised systems.
8. Fitting new parts as required
9. Carrying out quality inspections and completing comprehensive reports
10. Organising routine servicing schedules
Who We are looking for
We are looking for a Trainee Fitter with experience working in a similar industry for a distribution network operator and knowledge of electrical distribution systems. You will also require:
1. Completed a time served apprenticeship scheme within an electrical/mechanical competence
2. City & Guilds levels 2 & 3 in electrical/mechanical engineering or BTEC in electrical/mechanical engineering
3. Experienced in test, inspection & maintenance programmes and completion of detailed reports
4. Hold a valid, full UK driving licence (essential) with categories B +E (desirable)
5. Practical experience working within a substation environment
6. Proven experience in working outside in all weather conditions
