Medical Director's Leadership Fellow
at WTWA. This unique development role offers direct exposure to senior leadership, with opportunities to contribute to strategy, workforce development, medical education, service improvement, and patient safety. The post plays a key role in ensuring the voice of resident doctors is represented at senior level and in strengthening communication and engagement across the workforce. The role offers a high degree of autonomy, enabling the successful candidate to lead on projects aligned to their individual interests and career aspirations. The post includes
80% non‑clinical time and 20% clinical time, with the clinical element tailored to the successful candidate's background.
Responsibilities
Act as a credible clinical leader and role model, strengthening professional relationships internally and externally
Represent the Medical Director and Medical Director Team at meetings and key forums
Lead engagement with resident doctors across WTWA and drive associated improvement programmes
Act as a voice for resident doctors in organisational decision‑making
Lead the WTWA Resident Doctor Forum
Support and enhance the resident doctor experience through targeted initiatives
Ensure delivery of a comprehensive induction process for all new resident doctors
Develop and implement action plans in response to feedback from GMC Trainee Survey, Deanery visits, and other engagement mechanisms
Lead and contribute to Medical Director Team programmes and organisational priorities impacting the medical workforce
Promote a culture of medical leadership, engagement, and continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to improve patient outcomes and experience
Provide leadership in complex or challenging situations, ensuring decisions remain patient‑centred
Qualifications
Qualified Doctor or Dentist with full registration of the General Medical Council / General Dental Council or equivalent
Completion of the Foundation Programme
At least 6 months NHS Experience
Skills and Knowledge
Experience leading change initiatives
Experience working in regional or national leadership initiatives
Knowledge of NHS policy, particularly related to medical staff, patient experience, quality and safety, and the NHS regulatory framework
