The Good Company People is a growing charity based in East Sussex, supporting older people, people living with a dementia, and those who care for them.
We believe ageing should not mean becoming invisible. Through clubs, circles, concierge support and our new community hub, Good Company HQ, we help people stay connected, valued and part of their community.
We are now looking for a Finance Adviser to join us at a pivotal stage in our development.
This is an opportunity to use your financial skills in a meaningful, strategic and relationship-led organisation where your input will genuinely shape the future of the charity.
Working closely with the CEO, bookkeeper and Trustees, you will provide financial oversight, insight and support to help us grow sustainably and responsibly.
The role includes:
* Preparing monthly management accounts and financial commentary
* Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
* Helping develop financial models for future growth and new programmes
* Supporting financial governance and reporting
* Attending quarterly Finance, Risk & Governance meetings and Trustee meetings
* Providing advice and guidance to support strong financial decision making
* Supporting the ongoing development of financial systems and processes
We are looking for someone with strong financial management experience who can communicate financial information clearly and collaboratively. Charity finance experience would be helpful but is not essential.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who shares our values and believes in the importance of community, connection and ageing well.
This is a flexible voluntary role requiring approximately 7 days per month, mostly remote, with occasional in-person meetings.
You would be joining a warm, ambitious and highly committed team at a moment where your expertise could make a significant difference.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with strong financial experience who also values relationships, collaboration and community.
Our ideal volunteer will bring sound financial judgement alongside the ability to work supportively with a small, ambitious charity team. We are looking for someone who can help us think clearly, plan well and grow sustainably.
You may have experience in finance, accounting, audit, financial leadership or business planning, either within the charity sector or commercially.
The most important qualities for this role are:
* Strong financial management and analytical skills
* Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and management accounts
* The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
* Good judgement, integrity and attention to detail
* A collaborative and supportive approach
* An interest in helping organisations grow sustainably and responsibly
Experience in charity finance, governance or working with trustees would be helpful, but is not essential.
We would particularly value someone who:
* Enjoys helping organisations think strategically
* Can balance detail with the bigger picturei: I made a typo in the li tags.
* Is comfortable working flexibly within a growing organisation
* Understands that relationships and culture matter as much as systems and processes
* Is motivated by making a meaningful difference in people’s lives
The Good Company People is a relational, community-led charity, so personal qualities are just as important to us as technical expertise.
We are looking for someone who is approachable, encouraging and happy working alongside people from a wide range of professional and lived experience backgrounds.
In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise at a genuinely pivotal moment for the organisation. Your involvement will help shape how we grow, strengthen our long-term sustainability, and support more older people and families across our communities.
This role would suit someone who wants to use their professional experience in a purposeful way and be part of a charity that is trying to do things differently.
