We invite you to bring your experience as a lead highways design engineer into play as you engage in a number of significant major highway design projects; leading a team of dedicated design engineers, delivering design solutions.
The projects will comprise National Highways and other National Highway Authority schemes, delivered through various frameworks. Working in early stage development in PCF 1 and 2 through to design development and delivery through PCF stage 4 to 7.
To succeed in this role you must have gained full membership of an appropriate professional institution with a degree in Civil Engineering, and have demonstrable scheme design experience. This is supported by Incorporated or Chartered status membership with the ICE or CIHT.
Your new role
As our new Associate / Principal Engineer you will be part of a dynamic Highways team in our new Southampton office, right in the heart of the city. Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
* Be the technical lead for the team in relation to Highway Scheme Design.
* Undertake and manage complex Highway scheme design using industry standard software at a leading level. A working knowledge and long‑term experience of Autodesk Civils 3D and or Bentley Open Roads is essential.
* Engage with internal and external design teams and lead and guide design engineers and technicians.
* Work closely with other highway and environmental design disciplines in the delivery of projects.
* Look to innovate and develop design systems alongside Ramboll’s Digital Design Team.
* Provide guidance, instruct, motivate, and manage assigned staff on the project.
About you
* BEng/MEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer, MICE or equivalent extensive post‑qualification experience.
* Detailed knowledge of Highways Design and DMRB and working on UK based large road schemes.
* Detailed knowledge of BIM procedures and Extranet systems such as Bentley Projectwise.
* Experienced in project delivery including reports, drawings and specifications.
* A confident and professional manner, coupled with excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure and proven ability to deliver to deadlines.
