We are recruiting a fixed-term role, up to 2 years, for somebody with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You may be asked to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training
* Develop strategy for our sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players
* Respond to incidents as part of normal duties and maintain readiness for incident response and business continuity
Experience / Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage diversity considerations in work
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge and experience in the energy sector, including knowledge of control measures for emissions to air where relevant
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia
* Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals

This vacancy closes end of October. Interviews are expected to be held in person in Birmingham by the end of November. It would be anticipated that this role would require some travel.
