Junior Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery – MT03
Job overview
Excellent opportunity within the Neurosurgery Department at Royal Preston Hospital. Full‑time, fixed‑term 6‑month appointment for a Junior Clinical Fellow at ST1‑3 level, with on‑call duties and clinical responsibilities aligned with the job description.
Main duties of the job
Organise and deliver day‑to‑day pre‑ and post‑operative care of inpatients under guidance of Registrars and Consultants.
Maintain ward presence during normal working hours unless attending other clinical duties.
Attend routine or emergency operating sessions as required or when opportunity allows.
Cooperate within multidisciplinary teams and support structures, including Nurse Practitioners.

Qualifications
Full current GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
MBBS or Equivalent
MRCS Part 1 or equivalent
Experience and Skills
Completed Foundation years training
Basic skills for patient’s daily management
Management of critically ill patients
UK experience in Neurosurgery
Previous experience in Surgical specialties at level ST1‑3
Neurosurgical experience
Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit
Personal
Proven effective communication skills (with examples)
Good organisational skills (with examples)
Works well within a multidisciplinary environment
Computer skills
Health
Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/ Good Medical Practice
