Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will be joining a dedicated ward team focused on delivering high‑standard care to patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively and co‑operatively with others to meet the individual needs of patients and their families. Responsibilities include carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care in support of and supervised by an Assistant Practitioner/Registered Nurse, maintaining a high standard of quality patient care and staff morale through personal example, good conduct and appearance.
Job responsibilities
Work within the unit providing high‑quality, caring, compassionate and personal care to patients and their families/carers.
Work under the direction of registered healthcare professionals and senior colleagues, both independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Ensure a high standard of service provision on the unit by practising effective clinical and administrative preparation, effective communication and care delivery, prioritising workload appropriately and contributing to service improvements.
Participate in giving compassionate, high‑quality personal care to patients, prioritising appropriately and developing competencies that safeguard practice.
Develop competencies appropriate to the role.
Act always in a manner that illustrates respect for privacy, dignity, equality, diversity, and confidentiality.
Exhibit a professional attitude and behaviour and always demonstrate excellent customer care skills.
Contribute to effective team working by being fully involved, committed, and participating to achieve own and others' full potential.

Person Specification
Education & qualifications – Essential
* Care Certificate
* Functional skills minimum Level 2 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent, or working towards or equivalent experience
Experience – Essential
* Experience working in a healthcare setting
* Experience at band 2 Health Care Assistant level or equivalent
* Experience of working with the multidisciplinary team
* Experience of caring for patients
Experience – Desirable
* Experience of supporting and supervising junior staff
* Experience of supporting quality improvement, audits, research and development activities
Skills & abilities – Essential
* Good communication skills (written and verbal)
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Caring/supportive attitude
* Able to work in a team
* Able to carry out routine duties, adapt and reprioritise according to patients’ needs as necessary
