Job Overview

Provide dynamic leadership and a holistic model of service delivery with an integrated approach to the delivery of dual diagnosis drug and alcohol interventions across the health and social care system, with a further focus on identifying and supporting the needs of those with the Criminal Justice system.

The post holder will clinically lead the Dual Diagnosis provision and dual diagnosis practitioners across EPUT, working to mainstream the delivery of services to individuals with a dual diagnosis through collaborative system wide work that aims to reduce substance misuse related harms and achieve improvement in the functioning of affected persons.

The successful candidate, if a social worker, will need to hold the AMHP qualification and be able to practice at this role.

This person will be covering both the West Essex and North East Essex areas and so the base can be changed to one in the North East for the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

This role will also enhance the work already undertaken within Criminal Justice services provided by EPUT, Probation Services, Police and services provided by ECC Stakeholders, where substance misuse is one of the major presenting factors.

The post holder will liaise with operational management, across the mental health/substance misuse/criminal justice system and ensure the day to day delivery of a high quality and effective service.

The post holder is required to have a good understanding of the complexities and difficulties of people who are dually diagnosed.

Key to the role will be delivery of assessment and intervention of complex cases providing skilled role modelling to the dual diagnosis practitioners and operational services. The role will also act as an expert consultant to probation staff and any other services delivering criminal justice interventions who may require clinical support / consultancy across Essex in relation to substance misuse.
