Exciting Opportunity Preceptorship Midwife (Part-Time, 22.5 hours)
An opportunity has become available at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth, for a newly qualified midwife to join our team as part of a preceptorship programme. This is a part-time post (22.5 hours per week), with some hours at Carmarthen, another site within the health board, to broaden your experience. The role includes day, night, and weekend shifts to gain confidence across the full range of maternity care. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, compassionate, and personalised care for women and families who birth with us at Bronglais, with support from a preceptor and experienced midwives.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the Midwifery Preceptorship Programme and work towards progression through the gateway to Band 6 within 12 months.
* Provide care to women and families across the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
* Work as the third midwife on each shift, gaining experience across the full spectrum of maternity care.
* Involve in Day Assessment Unit (DAU) and triage services.
* Observe and gain experience in the on-site neonatal room where appropriate.
* Engage in dedicated study days and preceptor-supported shifts designed to build skills and confidence.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Newly qualified midwife who will be accountable for their own clinical practice (NMC) and participate in the Midwifery Preceptorship Programme.
* Commitment to developing through a structured preceptorship programme while delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
* Willingness to work a variety of shifts (day, night, weekends) and to base some hours at Carmarthen for broader clinical experience.
