An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Princess of Wales Hospital (Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board) for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the Stores / Procurement team supporting the operating theatre departments.

The Theatre stores form an integral part of the operating theatre department to ensure that the clinical areas have the required stock needed to conduct surgical and anaesthetic procedures safely.

The post holder will be responsible for the oversight of the departments' procurement requirements. Support the ordering of stock and non-stock supplies, receiving and distributing stock, reconciling purchase orders and dealing with invoice queries.

The successful candidate will need to be proactive, have a desire to learn in their area of responsibility and be able to develop good working relationships with theatre staff, directorate resource manager, service managers and other stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the immediate oversight of the procurement needs and processes in the three Theatre Departments in Princess of Wales Hospital (Main Theatres, Richard Johnson Day Surgery Unit and Ophthalmology Day Surgery Unit).

Link with the Directorate Resource Manager and Procurement department for all tendering requirements and proposed trials.

Provide administrative and clerical support for stock purchase and stock control ensuring that all duties are carried out in conjunction with relevant UHB policies.

Communicate effectively with other hospital/Health Board team members, other hospital/Health Board departments, patients and relatives/carers, other professional agencies as required and internal and external suppliers.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see 'Welsh Language Guidance' in the documents right at the bottom.
