Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Yard Operative/Forklift Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing materials within the yard, operating forklifts safely, and supporting overall yard operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience and mechanical aptitude to contribute to efficient logistics and waste management.
Duties
* Operate forklift trucks to load, unload, and move materials safely within the yard.
* Assist with the organisation of management systems.
* Handle materials efficiently, ensuring accurate loading and unloading of goods.
* Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed to ensure operational safety.
* Support recycling and receiving processes, including material checks.
* Assist with materials organisation, ensuring the yard remains tidy and accessible.
* Conduct safety checks on equipment prior to use, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Support other warehouse activities such as manual handling, lifting heavy loads, and general yard duties.
Experience
* Proven experience operating forklift trucks in a warehouse or yard environment.
* Knowledge of equipment repair and basic mechanical skills are advantageous.
* Experience in materials handling, or similar roles within a yard setting.
* Ability to perform basic maths for inventory counts and documentation purposes.
* Physical capability for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or moving around the yard.
* Prior experience working in a busy environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided where necessary.
