Ward Clerk

The post holder will be required to provide high quality clerical and administrative support as a member of the Maternity department and act as first point of contact for all patients and service users, putting patients at the heart of everything we do.
The role of the ward administration clerk is to assist in relieving the Midwifery/Nursing staff of as many non‑midwifery/non‑nursing duties as possible under the direct supervision of the Ward manager and Matron reporting to the Team Leader.
The post holder will be required to have good interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, a polite and courteous manner along with a professional attitude.
Main duties of the job
* First point of contact for all service users, relatives, colleagues, and queries.
* Work collaboratively and co‑operatively with ward colleagues to provide full administrative, reception and clerical support for the wards.
* Input and retrieve information from Cerner and all other clinical systems.
* Maintain data quality of all activity in the ward.

Education and Qualifications
* General education (GCSE or equivalent)
* Previous NHS Experience
Knowledge and experience
* Sound administrative, organisational, secretarial, and computing skills
* Experience using NHS IT system
* Experience working in a high pressure environment
