The Main Responsibilities
* Help residents socialize within the home/care centre and provide a variety of activities catering to all tastes
* Plan and initiate monthly rolling and individual programmes, encouraging residents to maintain hobbies
* Encourage outdoor activities in suitable weather
* Arrange trips out of the home
* Provide comfort and companionship on a one-to-one basis for residents unable to undertake activities
* Assist with serving morning coffee and afternoon tea if required
* Accompany residents to off-site activities, occasionally outside normal working hours
* Set up and open a shop at an efficient level
* Create a yearly calendar of events, considering occasions like Easter, Burns Night, Halloween, etc.
* Assist with fundraising and budgeting for entertainment, materials, and outings
* Ensure all staff know how to use appropriate equipment
* Report any changes in residents' physical or emotional condition to the manager or person in charge
* Implement and understand the home/care centre’s health and safety policies, emergency, and fire procedures
The most important qualities are the ability to treat others with respect, listen to their needs, and understand their emotions. Be kind, friendly, and honest.
The Ideal Candidate
* Supporting adults with mental health conditions and/or elderly
* Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
* Proven ability to develop and organize a range of events/activities for clients in all categories
* Flexible approach to working routines
* Creative and confident
