Job Description Purpose of the role To manage and develop capital project proposals and operations aligned to the needs of the bank. Accountabilities Management, development and execution of building, real estate and physical asset security projects and proposals, including workspace, engineering, and facility upgrades. Management of planning, design, procurement, resourcing, reporting and construction processes to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget. Identification of potential risks and issues associated to capital projects and development of risk management strategies to mitigate them by monitoring risk exposure and taking corrective action. Management of project budget for real estate and physical security projects by tracking expenses, forecasting costs and identifying cost saving opportunities. Management of stakeholder relations including project sponsors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and the facilities management team to align capital project operations with the bank's objectives. Identification of opportunities to improve the delivery processes for capital projects and implement best practices to enhance project performance. Execution of capital projects that meet agreed quality standards, and are compliant with relevant laws, regulation, and policies. They will lead collaborative, multi-year assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment. Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda. Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies. Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions. Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes. Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes. Barclays is looking for a highly capable Program Manager to lead and deliver complex capital projects across our Corporate Real Estate Services (CRES) function. You will play a central role in shaping our workplace environment, driving project execution, and ensuring that real estate, engineering, and physical security initiatives support our strategic business objectives. To be successful as a Program Manager you should have: Proven experience in Design and Construction, delivering projects from concept through completion. Demonstrable expertise in interior office design, creating functional and modern workplace environments. Strong understanding of construction, engineering, and infrastructure within complex operational settings. Solid experience in scheduling and project delivery, managing timelines, milestones, and dependencies. Effective vendor management skills, including procurement, negotiation, and performance oversight. Prior Financial Services industry experience, operating within regulated environments and governance frameworks. Some other highly valued skills may include: Proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing drawings and space plans. Strong capability with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly for reporting and analysis. Experience using scheduling tools such as MS Project or Smartsheet to track and manage project plans. You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job specific technical skills. This role is based in London.
