Summary

With a love for the great outdoors and as the public face of our properties, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the hills, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.

Salary: £13.25 per hour

Contract/duration: Fixed term until 30th September 2026

Hours/working pattern: This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts.

You'll work week days, weekends and bank holidays. You can expect to work a minimum 2 days per week on average from 8:30am - 5pm.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you’ll be part of a team of 4 Welcome & Service Team Member working at Clent Hills which is part of the West Birmingham, Wolverhampton and the Black Country portfolio.

This is an exciting time to join us. We’re a new portfolio focused on the National Trust’s priorities of Ending Unequal Access and Inspiring Millions, as part of our strategy "People and Nature Thriving". We aim to reach 10 million more people from currently under-served groups by 2035.

What you'll be doing

Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can. You’ll have the chance to be involved in different aspects of the visitor experience - no two days are the same. Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service in the outdoors.

You will be based at Nimmings Wood, near the car park, which is the main access point for Clent Hills. An average day will see you welcoming visitors, ensuring displays are up to date and facilities are tidy, selling books and pin badges, and promoting National Trust memberships. You'll get to know regular visitors, and build positive relationships with people new to the Hills. Uniform for the outdoors will be provided.
