About The Team: As an Automation Engineer, you will be the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for controls systems, maintenance engineering, sensors, PLCs, communication protocols, and automation. You will collaborate with facilities and maintenance teams to maintain and repair conveyance, automation, and facilities equipment to support operations uptime and improve system reliability.
What You Will Be Doing:
1. Monitor, fault find, and repair systems to ensure high equipment availability.
2. Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on automation, robotics, and control panels.
3. Troubleshoot out-of-service equipment, escalate issues, and coordinate with vendors as needed.
4. Document all work in the CMMS and ticketing systems.
5. Mentor maintenance personnel in automation, controls, and robotics.
6. Lead root cause analysis of major downtime events.
7. Act as a network resource for technical issues and lead network-wide root cause analysis.
8. Develop maintenance staff knowledge on automation, controls, and robotics.
9. Partner with engineering on commissioning new control systems.
10. Audit vendor work, provide feedback on quality and SLA performance.
11. Write or modify PMs to standardize and increase effectiveness across the network.
Who You Are:
* Qualified or have practical understanding in Mechatronics, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
* Experienced in automation, mechanical, or maintenance engineering within manufacturing or production environments.
* Proficient in PLC-controlled systems, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
* Skilled in interpreting manuals, drawings, and schematics.
* Experienced in reactive and preventative maintenance, handling escalations, and CMMS tasks.
* Adept in material handling systems and process monitoring.
* Effective communicator and mentor, capable of coaching junior engineers.
* Experienced in root cause analysis, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and familiar with DIQ and WMS systems.

Location: 1 Holme Lane, Spondon, Derby, DE21 7HW (On-Site)
Work Schedule: 4 on 3 off shift, 42 hours/week (12-hour shifts). Options: Wednesday to Saturday or Sunday to Wednesday.
