Job Description
Our Client is a tier 1 contractor operating across major infrastructure and utility projects in the UK. They are currently seeking a Project Engineer to work across their Anglian Water sites in Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, and Suffolk, delivering wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure design projects within the framework of an NEC contract.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, subcontractors, surveyors, and consultants, ensuring compliance with client requirements, NEC contract obligations, and relevant industry standards.
Experience required for Project Engineer:
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent in an engineering-related subject, ideally in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, or Civil engineering.
* Industry experience and qualifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
* Proficient with IT, specifically the full Office 365 suite.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation regarding safe work practices.
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* A team player capable of coordinating project activities with clients’ consultants and third parties.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with WIMES Standards.
* Experience working within the utilities industry, especially Water & Wastewater.
* Skills and experience in programme and schedule management.
* Commercial and contract knowledge.
* Understanding of BIM.
* Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE2.
* SMSTS or NEBOSH qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate the design process for water industry projects from feasibility to detailed design and construction.
* Conduct root cause analysis based on client needs.
* Collaborate with the planning team to create a P6 programme for design delivery and participate in regular reviews.
* Act as the main interface between the client, design consultants, and internal teams, ensuring NEC contract compliance.
* Manage design deliverables, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
* Support change management, risk management, and communication under the NEC framework.
* Ensure designs meet statutory, health, safety, and technical standards.
* Participate in project meetings and manage RFIs and technical queries during design and construction phases.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff as needed.
