Job Title: Research Assistant (Cyber Security)

End Date: 15th May 2026
Location: Cambridge campus
Pay rate: £16.19 per hour
Hours: 7 hours per week
Project Aim: This position supports a CyBOK‑funded project developing teaching materials for the forthcoming Security‑Informed Safety Topic Guide. The project focuses on cyber‑physical systems (CPS/OT) and the integration of cybersecurity and safety engineering concepts. We will develop visualised CPS security training materials, including attack scenarios.
Duties:
* Develop technically accurate case‑study content for safety‑critical systems and relevant cyber‑attacks (e.g., IC and OSI). Weneed at least 5 case studies for this project.
* Prepare student worksheets, lecture slides, and instructor notes.
* Map materials to relevant standards (e.g., IEC 62443) and CyBOK Knowledge Areas.
* Support script drafting and technical validation of visual materials. This will be collaboration with the other RA to create training videos (visualised OT cyberattacks and detection/prevention solutions).
Essential Requirements:
* Postgraduate student or graduated in cyber security or relevant fields.
* Strong knowledge in cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and detection solutions.
* Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly in written form.
Desirable:
* Background or good knowledge in cyber‑physical systems or OT security.
* Familiarity with safety engineering concepts (e.g., SIL, SIS, safety cases, hazard analysis).
* Experience developing teaching or training materials.
