About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading European organisation operating across multiple jurisdictions, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its high-performing Legal team. This is a key role within a collaborative legal function that supports a diverse and fast-growing international business footprint.
The position offers a unique opportunity to act as a trusted legal advisor across Europe, with a particular focus on the UK & Ireland. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing commercially pragmatic legal advice in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.
The Role
Reporting to the General Counsel (UK & I), you will play a central role in delivering strategic and day-to-day legal support across a wide range of matters. This is a hands-on role suited to a commercially minded lawyer who thrives on variety and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Core Legal Support
* Provide practical, business-focused legal advice on a broad range of matters including commercial contracts, employment, corporate, property, and data protection.
* Support M&A activity, including acquisitions and post-deal integration, in collaboration with external counsel.
* Oversee company secretarial activities for relevant legal entities.
* Develop and deliver training on legal, compliance, and risk-related topics.
* Contribute legal expertise to strategic, cross-functional projects.
* Manage external counsel relationships to ensure high-quality and cost-effective support.
UK & Ireland Focus
* Act as a trusted legal partner to key business functions including HR, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and Corporate Affairs.
* Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (e.g. supplier, consultancy, and data protection contracts).
* Advise on contract lifecycle matters including renewals, disputes, and supplier management.
* Support corporate governance and company secretarial requirements in the UK & Ireland.
* Provide legal input on property-related documentation such as leases and licences.
* Identify and mitigate legal risks with commercially sound solutions.
* Monitor and interpret relevant regulatory developments impacting the business.
About You
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute legal professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, international environment, whom is confident operating both autonomously and collaboratively, with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives effectively.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified solicitor (UK) with an LL.B or equivalent
* Minimum 8 years’ PQE, ideally with a mix of in-house and private practice experience
* Strong experience across commercial legal disciplines (contracts, corporate, employment, data protection)
* Proven ability to support multi-jurisdictional stakeholders
