The purpose of this role is to lead and support the drafting, implementation, and review of legislation. The post holder will advise stakeholders, DfT officials, and lawyers, including interpreting legislation underpinning DVSA's responsibilities. The role involves managing relationships within the DfT and across government to align objectives and maximize benefits. There are line management responsibilities, and we support our managers to develop their skills, fostering teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.
This varied and challenging role requires adaptability and flexibility, with the ability to adjust priorities while maintaining strategic direction. Responsibilities include:
1. Collaborating with Service and Product Managers and liaising with DVSA Enforcement.
2. Ensuring regulatory clearance processes with DfT are completed.
3. Working with internal and external stakeholders to implement regulatory changes efficiently, managing expectations, and providing guidance to senior stakeholders.
4. Reviewing DVSA change proposals to assess impacts on policy, legislation, enforcement, and fees.
5. Drafting requests for legal advice to optimize the use of lawyers' time and resources.
