Job Summary

HM Land Registry (HMLR) are seeking a Lead Microsoft Platforms Engineer to provide technical leadership and drive improvements across end user services. You'll take the lead on Microsoft technologies including Windows 11, Intune and Autopilot, acting as the technical escalation point for the End User Support Team while mentoring and driving service improvements that impact over 8,000 colleagues across 14 UK HMLR offices. Starting salary £57,000 - £63,900, increasing to £70,900 plus 29% pension contribution and other Civil Service benefits. Flexible, hybrid working from Plymouth.

Job Overview

HMLR is undergoing a major transformation programme. The organisation aims to become the world's leading land registry for speed, simplicity and open data. Their existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion and enabling over £1 trillion of lending to be secured against property across England and Wales. They are looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer for Microsoft Platforms to join their Transformation & Technology Directorate.

Responsibilities

* Act as a key point of expertise and collaboration, supporting the End User Support Team and wider IT Operations colleagues.
* Provide technical guidance and escalation support, optimise Intune and Autopilot provisioning and enhance the experience of 8,000 colleagues across 14 offices.
* Contribute to process automation and service improvement initiatives, collaborating with teams in Azure, Power Platform and Server Management to deliver integrated solutions.
* Mentor junior staff, share knowledge and raise overall technical capability within a multidisciplinary team.


Essential Technical Criteria

* Extensive Microsoft Technology platform skills
* Windows 11 Desktop Management
* Intune (Autopilot device provisioning / Mobile device management)
* Azure Hybrid AD
* Exchange Hybrid administration
* Entra ID (Day to day management, App registrations, Entra ID App Proxy)
* SCCM administration
* Troubleshooting Windows OS
* Office 365 management
* Scripting/Terraform/PowerShell


Essential Experience

* Experience of managing technical risk and implementing mitigations
* Experience leading technical change from planning through delivery and risk management
* Strong grasp of systems design, integration and documentation, with ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
* Proven technical leadership through coaching, mentoring and stakeholder communication
* Ability to analyse complex problems, make sound decisions and implement practical solutions


Desirable Criteria

* ITIL Foundation Certificate
* Knowledge/experience of the Government Digital Service (GDS)
* Service Design Manual
* PowerBI - Tenant Administration / On Premise data gateway administration
* Microsoft Defender and Cloud App Security awareness
* MS 365 CoPilot
* Windows server management
* Azure - Managing Azure Virtual Desktop / Networking / Storage Accounts / Key Vaults
* HP Connect


Location

Expectation is to be working from the advertised office 60% of your time across the month (typically 3 days/week). Hours are flexible and condensed hours are an option. Available office location: Plymouth.
