NHSGGC has a temporary vacancy for an Information Security Technical Specialist to support the Boards work in Innovations & Research. Part of the IT Security and Compliance Team and reporting to the Information Security Manager, the post holder will work closely with colleagues in Research & Innovation contributing to the planning, managing and delivery of Research & Innovation programmes and projects as part of the eHealth Digital Delivery Plan. Providing specialist support, advice and expertise on all aspects of Information security, including System Security assessments, rapid risk assessment and identifying security controls, the role will be essential to supporting NHSGGC’s ongoing work in the exciting area of Research & Innovation within the health sector. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the application of security controls to systems, assessing cybersecurity risks and articulating and documenting these so that they can be understood at all stakeholder levels. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate assessment of vulnerabilities and development of suitable remediation plans whilst leading investigations and understanding a range of complex cybersecurity issues, identifying possible solutions and recommending the best options. Applicants should be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in an IT or other relevant discipline or have considerable demonstrable experience of working in related roles, backed by a qualification in the specialist area, (e.g. CISM, CISSP, ). Applicants should have excellent organisational and people skills, possess a high standard of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and pay attention to detail. You should be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office packages and be able to handle sensitive information discreetly and in confidence. You should also be able to work on your own initiative, balanced with being a supportive and collaborative team member.
