About the role
You’ll work closely with one pupil each day, helping them navigate lessons, routines, and social moments in a way that feels supportive and manageable.
You will:
1. Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEND and SEMH needs
2. Follow their personalised learning plan and behaviour strategies
3. Create a calm, structured environment where the pupil can learn without pressure
4. Help build confidence, communication skills, and emotional regulation
5. Support the pupil through challenging moments with de-escalation and empathy
6. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team
Requirements for working as a SEN Teaching Assistant
7. Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEND
8. A calm, positive, and resilient approach
9. Confidence supporting behaviour using agreed strategies
10. Strong communication and relationship-building skills
