About the Organisation

Role Purpose

  • The Finance Assistant is an operational finance role reporting to the Head of Finance (Commercial). The role supports the day-to-day finance activities of the commercial division, including purchase-to-pay, order-to-cash processes, and general ledger maintenance.
  • This position provides a strong foundation within the finance function and offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress their finance career within a growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase-to-Pay

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate authorisation in line with company policy.
  • Manage supplier payment runs and reconcile supplier statements.
  • Resolve supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.

Order-to-Cash Support

  • Support the preparation and issuing of sales invoices.
  • Assist with managing outstanding debtor balances and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer transactions within the accounting system.

General Ledger Maintenance

  • Post journals and maintain the general ledger, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and coded.
  • Support month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations as required.

General Finance Support

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the finance team as required.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and information.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of finance processes and controls.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a bookkeeping or finance support role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Part-qualified or studying qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) preferred but not required
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is advantageous but not essential
