Role Purpose
- The Finance Assistant is an operational finance role reporting to the Head of Finance (Commercial). The role supports the day-to-day finance activities of the commercial division, including purchase-to-pay, order-to-cash processes, and general ledger maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
Purchase-to-Pay
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate authorisation in line with company policy.
- Manage supplier payment runs and reconcile supplier statements.
- Resolve supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.
Order-to-Cash Support
- Support the preparation and issuing of sales invoices.
- Assist with managing outstanding debtor balances and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of customer transactions within the accounting system.
General Ledger Maintenance
- Post journals and maintain the general ledger, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and coded.
- Support month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations as required.
General Finance Support
- Provide administrative and operational support to the finance team as required.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and information.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of finance processes and controls.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping or finance support role
- Strong attention to detail
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Flexible and adaptable approach
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Part-qualified or studying qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) preferred but not required
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is advantageous but not essential
