42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)
A bit about our branch, the Task Team (Central), along with our South Team (Based in Essex) and our North Team (Based in Durham) Our team helps mobilise, demobilise and support contracts throughout the whole of Mears, We provide support for contracts that are understaffed, have works in progress that need reducing. We mainly carry out repairs on Day to Day/Response works, but we are occasionally used for Voids and Planned also. This means we can work on any contract within Mears who needs assistance, our main areas for works are: Birmingham, Coventry, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham and Stoke on Trent along with surrounding areas, with sometimes staying away/travelling to assist on contracts.
With the Task Team (Central) we are looking to mobilise 12 Operatives, 1 Planner and 1 Supervisor to create this new branch within Mears and help assist branches that need it. We are looking to hold 1st interviews over Microsoft Teams from 2nd February until 13th February. If you are then successful can you please have availability for 2nd interviews/presentation at our Milton Keynes office on 23rd/24th February.
We will then look to mobilise the team in early April.
We’re currently seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our team, supporting a busy responsive repairs contract in Coventry. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality carpentry repairs and maintenance in occupied social housing properties, helping ensure residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well maintained.
You’ll be responding to a variety of day-to-day repair requests, including tasks such as replacing internal doors, repairing skirting boards and architraves, fitting kitchen units, and completing general finishing works. No two days are the same, and your ability to work efficiently, solve problems on-site, and provide excellent customer service will be essential.

We’re looking for someone experienced in domestic carpentry, confident working in occupied homes, and committed to getting the job done right the first time.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Carry out day-to-day carpentry repairs in occupied properties as part of a responsive maintenance service
2. Replace and repair internal doors, frames, handles, locks, and hinges
3. Fit and adjust kitchen units, worktops, cupboard doors, and pelmets
4. Install or replace skirting boards, architraves, and other decorative joinery
5. Repair or replace timber flooring, stair components, and handrails where required
6. Make good following repairs, including basic patch plastering or tiling as needed
7. Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations
8. Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
9. Work professionally and respectfully in residents’ homes, maintaining a clean and safe working environment
10. Identify and report any additional works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond the scope of the job
11. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures at all times
12. Provided high levels of customer care
Role Criteria:
13. Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance in a carpentry position
14. Experience in the above duties
15. Full UK driving licence
16. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
17. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
18. Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
19. Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
20. Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
21. Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota
